Vilsack Fails to Attract Iowa Donors; King Receives Broad Support from Iowans

Report shows only 41 percent of Vilsack’s donations come from Iowa, 83 percent of King’s donations are from Iowans

 

Fundraising data from OpenSecrets.org shows Congressman Steve King (R-Kiron) is receiving broad support from Iowans while Christie Vilsack is relying on out-of-state and out-of-touch liberals to fund her campaign.

“The data shows Christie Vilsack’s campaign is being funded by out-of-touch liberals from outside Iowa who are bent on sending Vilsack to Washington to be a rubberstamp vote for President Obama and Nancy Pelosi’s failed policies leading to job loss, record debt and unpredictability in Washington stifling small business growth,” said King for Congress Campaign Manager Jake Ketzner. “The data shows Iowans know Congressman King is the candidate in this race who represents their values and will remain their voice of common sense in Washington.”

The report analyzes individual contributions of $200 or more. The report does not include political action committee contributions or contributions under $200.

The nonpartisan OpenSecrets.org report shows Vilsack receiving 59 percent, or $630,000, from out-of-state individual donors who gave $200 or more.  Vilsack’s out-of state liberal individual donors include Obama strategist and Chicago liberal David Axelrod, George Soros’s son Jonathan Soros, President Bill Clinton, former Obama Chief of Staff Bill Daley and South Carolina Rep. Jim Clyburn.

The same OpenSecrets.org report shows 83 percent of individual donors who have given $200 or more to Congressman King were Iowans.

Vilsack has been focused on out-of-state fundraisers with liberals across the country.  The Vilsack campaign has held fundraisers in New York City, Little Rock and Washington, D.C. The report shows Vilsack’s top metro areas for fundraising include New York City, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Long Beach and Chicago.
