MEMO FROM KING FOR CONGRESS CAMPAIGN MANAGER JAKE KETZNER

DATE: MAY 1, 2012

RE: CHRISTIE VILSACK’S TOUR ON GOVERNMENT WASTE, FRAUD AND ABUSE

TO:  REPORTERS AND VOTERS OF THE 4TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT

Today, Christie Vilsack is holding events to announce her policy on “government waste, fraud and abuse.” While Vilsack has been ducking questions on the trail, we look forward to hearing where she stands on the following issues of government waste:

1.     Will Christie Vilsack finally answer the questions from her campaign’s listening tour? Vilsack ducked questions from Iowans in the 4th District. On this question about more government than Americans can afford, Christie Vilsack said, “I appreciate you asking that question, but I am trying to not answer questions right now.”

2.     Where does Christie Vilsack stand on Obamacare? When asked about the issue by the Ames Tribune, Christie Vilsack would not say where she stood on the issue and refused to say if she would have voted “yes.”

3.     At an event in Johnson County, Iowa, Christie Vilsack said, “I’m running to beat Steve King, but I’m also running to help re-elect this president.” Is Christie Vilsack running to help advance the President’s agenda of more wasted taxpayer dollars on companies like Solyndra?

4.     Where does Christie Vilsack stand on a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution? Iowans balance their checkbook each month, why can’t Congress? As Congressman King continues to push for a balanced budget amendment, Christie Vilsack’s East Coast liberal allies come to Iowa touting the fact government is spending money they don’t have.

If Christie Vilsack continues to duck away from any or all of these important, legitimate points, then she has again failed to answer the voters of this district, and these events are nothing more than window dressing to hide her position on these important issues.
